The history of stained glass embodies beauty, art, spirituality, engineering, and architecture. For over 1000 years, the term “stained glass” has been applied almost exclusively to the windows of churches and other significant buildings. While traditionally made in panels and used as windows, modern stained glass artists also include three-dimensional structures and sculpture.For centuries, large windows have withstood the test of time and remained substantially intact since the late Middle Ages.
